Cranberry Cotoneaster is named for its cranberry-like red berries that persist into winter, accompanied by small, glossy leaves. This spreading shrub reaches about 3 feet in height, suitable for slopes and banks where it can help control erosion while adding ornamental value.

For optimal growth, plant Cotoneaster apiculatus in a location with full sun exposure. This plant prefers well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Water deeply but infrequently once established, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Light pruning in late winter or early spring helps maintain its form and encourages new growth. Apply a layer of organic mulch to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
