Cranberry Cotoneaster

Plant in spring or fall in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 5–6 feet apart or 3 feet apart for groundcover use. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly around the base.

Water regularly after planting; once established it has good drought tolerance. Little pruning is needed- remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches in early spring to maintain a tidy habit. Avoid heavy shearing, which ruins the natural, arching form. No fertilization is generally needed in average soil. The bright red berries in fall and winter are very attractive to birds. Watch for fire blight in warm, humid conditions.
