Willowleaf Cotoneaster

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 5–8 feet apart in well-drained to dry soil. Willowleaf cotoneaster is a graceful, arching shrub with narrow, willow-like leaves and a naturally elegant, weeping habit. It adapts to a range of soils including poor, dry, and rocky conditions with excellent drainage. No soil amendment is needed. Water well at planting and reduce as the plant establishes.

Minimal pruning is needed to maintain the naturally graceful, arching form. Remove any dead wood in early spring. Once established, willowleaf cotoneaster is quite drought tolerant. The small red berries in fall persist through winter and provide food for birds. No regular fertilizing is needed. An elegant, low-maintenance shrub for slopes, banks, and naturalized areas where its arching habit can be fully appreciated.
