Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 6–10 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Little pruning is needed. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. Enkianthus is a beautiful and underused shrub with exceptional four-season appeal- clusters of nodding, bell-shaped white flowers striped with pink in spring, tiered architectural branching structure all season, and brilliant red and orange fall foliage. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. A superb companion for rhododendrons and azaleas.
