Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) enriched with organic matter. Space 5–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Little to no pruning is needed- Mt. Airy holds a naturally attractive, multi-stemmed form. Remove any dead or damaged branches in early spring. Fertilize lightly with an acid fertilizer in spring. The honey-scented white bottlebrush flowers in spring, glossy summer foliage, and spectacular red-to-orange fall color make this one of the best four-season native shrubs available. Largely pest-free.
