Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained to dry soils. This low-spreading juniper is excellent for hot, dry banks, slopes, and rock gardens where other groundcovers fail. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball and water well at planting. Space plants 5–7 feet apart. Minimal soil preparation is needed — it actually thrives in lean conditions.

Care Tips

No regular pruning or fertilizing is required. Golden Carpet is extremely drought tolerant once established and handles heat, poor soil, and neglect with ease. Avoid wet soils and overwatering, which are the most common causes of problems with junipers. The golden-tipped foliage brightens up dry, sunny areas all season long.
