Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 3–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently- bigleaf hydrangeas are among the most water-demanding shrubs and wilt quickly in dry conditions. Blooms on old wood- prune only lightly immediately after flowering, removing spent blooms; avoid heavy pruning in fall or early spring. Flower color depends on soil pH- acidic soil produces blue; alkaline soil produces pink. Fertilize in spring with an acid fertilizer. Protect from late spring frost which can kill flower buds. The large, ruffled, double flower heads are exceptionally full and beautiful.
