Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained soil, spacing 2–4 feet apart. Blue Arrow is an extremely narrow, columnar Eastern red cedar with silvery-blue foliage. Its tight, upright habit makes it ideal as a formal accent, screen, or windbreak in limited spaces. Very adaptable to a wide range of soils including dry and clay conditions. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball and water well.

Care Tips

No pruning is needed to maintain the naturally narrow, columnar form. Blue Arrow is one of the most cold-hardy and adaptable narrow conifers available. Very drought tolerant once established. Eastern red cedar is a native tree important for wildlife — the blue-green berries are eaten by numerous bird species. Apply a light balanced fertilizer in spring. An excellent, versatile narrow conifer for screening, accents, and formal garden designs.
