Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) enriched with organic matter. Space 4–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently, especially during the first season and dry summer periods. Mountain laurel has shallow roots that appreciate steady moisture and cool soil. Deadhead spent flower clusters after blooming to improve next year's flower production. Prune lightly after flowering if shaping is needed. Fertilize in spring with an acid-formulated fertilizer. Largely pest-free. A beautiful native evergreen shrub with distinctive buds and flowers.
