Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, moist to dry, well-drained soil. Provide a sturdy support structure- fence, trellis, wall, or arbor. Space 5–10 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant and very adaptable to poor, dry soils and urban conditions. Virginia creeper climbs by adhesive tendrils and will cover structures and surfaces extensively- prune to control spread at any time during the growing season. Cut back hard in early spring if needed to rejuvenate. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The brilliant scarlet fall foliage is among the most vivid of any vine. Note: berries are toxic if ingested.
