Dwarf Alberta Spruce

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Dwarf Alberta Spruce is a classic, slow-growing conifer with a perfectly symmetrical, cone-shaped form and dense, fine-textured, bright green foliage. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball, water thoroughly, and mulch well. It prefers a sheltered site away from harsh, drying winds.

No regular pruning is needed to maintain the perfect natural form. Remove any dead branches. Keep soil consistently moist — this spruce does not tolerate drought well. Watch for spider mites, which can be an issue in hot, dry conditions. Apply a light balanced fertilizer in spring. A classic, symmetrical specimen plant for entryways, foundation plantings, and formal garden designs. Grows very slowly but develops beautifully over decades.
