Twisted Needle White Pine

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained to moist soil, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Twisted Needle is an unusual white pine variety with distinctively twisted, contorted needles that give it a uniquely textural, spiraling appearance. The irregular, sculptural form makes it an outstanding specimen plant. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball, water thoroughly, and mulch well.

Minimal pruning is needed — the natural, contorted form is the primary ornamental feature and should be allowed to develop freely. Remove any dead branches in early spring. Keep soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season. Apply a light balanced fertilizer in spring. Twisted Needle is a slow-growing, long-lived specimen that becomes increasingly dramatic and sculptural over the years.
