Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Space 4–6 feet apart. Provide a trellis or fence for support. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently, especially during fruit development. Blackberries fruit on second-year canes- after harvest in late summer, cut all canes that fruited back to the ground and tie in the new first-year canes for next year's crop. Fertilize in early spring and again after harvest with a balanced fertilizer. Prime-Ark Freedom is a primocane-fruiting type that also produces a fall crop on new canes, extending the harvest season. Thornless canes make harvesting far easier than traditional varieties.
