Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 4–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the growing season. Prune lightly immediately after flowering. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. Monitor for lace bugs on the undersides of leaves in summer. Stewartstonian is a classic, beloved evergreen azalea with vivid, rich orange-red flowers that are produced with exceptional generosity in spring. The foliage turns attractive burgundy-red in winter- a striking and welcome cold-season feature. A reliable, long-lived, and outstanding azalea selection. Largely otherwise pest-free.
