Dwarf Korean Lilac

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained soil, spacing 4–5 feet apart. Dwarf Korean lilac is a compact shrub that produces masses of fragrant, rosy-purple flowers in late spring to early summer — later than common lilac, which extends the lilac season. It adapts to average conditions without special preparation. Water well at planting and mulch lightly.

Prune right after flowering — lilac blooms on old wood. Remove spent flower clusters promptly to prevent seed formation and encourage next year's buds to develop. Lilacs thrive in slightly alkaline to neutral soil — if your soil is very acidic, a light application of garden lime can improve performance. Fertilize in spring. One of the most fragrant shrubs available. Highly attractive to butterflies. Very cold hardy and long lived.
