Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly alkaline to neutral soil. Space 5–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first two seasons; moderately drought tolerant once established. Prune immediately after flowering- lilacs bloom on old wood and pruning at any other time removes next year's flower buds. Remove spent flower clusters promptly to improve next year's bloom. Remove any suckers. Fertilize lightly in early spring. Virtual Violet produces exceptionally deep, vivid violet-purple flower panicles with a strong, classic lilac fragrance. A compact selection well suited to smaller gardens.
