Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil, spacing 2–3 feet apart. Mr. Bowling Ball is an exceptionally compact, perfectly globe-shaped arborvitae that maintains its neat, rounded form with minimal pruning. It is one of the smallest and most compact arborvitae varieties available. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball, water thoroughly, and mulch well.

Care Tips

Minimal pruning is needed — the naturally perfect globe form is largely self-maintaining. A very light shear in spring after new growth emerges keeps it crisp if desired. Keep soil consistently moist. Apply a balanced fertilizer in spring. Mr. Bowling Ball's perfectly rounded form makes it an excellent accent, edging, or foundation planting element in formal and informal garden designs. Protection from deer may be needed in some areas.
