Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.0–5.0). Space 4–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 3–4 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown. Plant with another variety for cross-pollination and best fruit set.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently- blueberries have shallow roots that need reliable moisture. Remove the oldest canes at the base in late winter to encourage vigorous new fruiting wood. Fertilize in early spring and late spring with an acid fertilizer. Never use lime near blueberries. Blue Gold is a highbush type valued for its large, firm, sweet berries and good disease resistance. Net plants at ripening to protect berries from birds.
