Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in acidic, well-drained soil, spacing 4–6 feet apart. Jersey is a late-season highbush blueberry that extends the harvest season well into late summer after earlier varieties have finished. It is one of the most cold-hardy highbush varieties and adapts well to clay soils. Acidic soil pH 4.5–5.5 is essential. Test and amend if needed. Mulch generously with wood chips.

Care Tips

Prune in late winter by removing the oldest canes and weak growth. Fertilize with an acid fertilizer in spring. Water consistently during fruit development. Jersey's late season extends fresh blueberry production after most other varieties are finished. A traditional and dependable variety that has been grown for generations. Excellent for combining with early and mid-season varieties to create a long harvest season.
