Spice Island Korean Spice Bush

Plant in moist, well-drained soil amended with compost. Space 5–7 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Water consistently, especially during the first season and dry spells. Once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Little pruning is needed- remove a few of the oldest stems at the base after flowering to encourage vigorous new growth. Fertilize lightly in early spring. The spicy, clove-like fragrance of the flowers in early spring is exceptional and one of the strongest of any spring-blooming shrub. Largely pest-free.
