Summer Snowflake Viburnum

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil, spacing 8–10 feet apart. Summer Snowflake is an outstanding viburnum that produces white, lacy flower clusters throughout the summer season — far longer than most viburnums which bloom only in spring. It adapts to average garden conditions. Dig a generous planting hole, amend with compost, and water well. Mulch to retain moisture.

Minimal pruning is needed beyond removing dead wood in early spring. The exceptionally long bloom season makes Summer Snowflake one of the most valuable flowering shrubs for sustained garden interest. Berries ripen from red to black in fall and provide food for birds.
