Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil, spacing 8–10 feet apart. Shasta is a superior doublefile viburnum with an exceptionally strong horizontal branching habit and masses of large, lacy white flower clusters arranged in stunning rows along the branches in late spring. Dig a generous planting hole, amend with compost, and water well. Mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Minimal pruning is needed — the horizontal branching habit is the primary ornamental feature and should not be disturbed. Remove dead wood in early spring. Keep soil consistently moist. The fall berries transition from red to black and attract birds. Brilliant red fall foliage color. Fertilize in spring. Shasta is considered by many experts to be the finest doublefile viburnum variety — a spectacular, architectural four-season shrub.
