Blue Moon Wisteria

Plant in moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Provide a very sturdy support structure- mature wisteria is exceptionally heavy. Space 15–20 feet apart or allow to ramble over a large pergola. Water thoroughly after planting.

Water deeply and regularly the first two seasons. Once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Blue Moon is an American wisteria that blooms on new wood- it is far less aggressive than Asian species and is much better behaved in the garden. Prune in late winter to control size and shape, and again in midsummer after bloom. Fertilize lightly- avoid high nitrogen which promotes foliage over flowers. The fragrant, blue-violet flower clusters are produced in reliable flushes including a notable midsummer rebloom.
