Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained to dry soil in full sun. Color Guard yucca is a boldly variegated yucca with sword-like leaves striped in green and creamy-yellow that provide dramatic, year-round textural interest. It requires excellent drainage and thrives in hot, dry conditions. No soil amendment is needed. Water sparingly after planting and reduce further as established.

Care Tips

Minimal maintenance is required. Remove the spent flower stalk after the dramatic, tall white flower spike finishes blooming. Cut away any dead or brown lower leaves as needed to keep the plant tidy. Once established, yucca is extremely drought tolerant and essentially self-sufficient. No fertilizing needed. The bold, spiky, variegated foliage provides outstanding year-round structural interest in hot, dry sunny borders and xeriscape plantings.
