Issai Mini Kiwi Fruit

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Provide a very sturdy support structure. Space 10–15 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Issai is a self-fertile variety- no separate male pollinator is required.

Water deeply and regularly the first two seasons; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Prune hard in late winter each year to keep the vigorous vine manageable and to maximize fruit production. Fertilize lightly in spring. The small, smooth-skinned grape-sized fruits are produced in abundance in late summer and can be eaten directly without peeling. Largely pest-free. Issai is a particularly productive self-fertile selection that makes growing kiwi fruit practical in even a small garden.
