Pairs well with

Above and Beyond is a climbing rose hardy to Zone 3, which is further north than almost any climber will survive. Rosa 'ZLEEltonStrack' reaches 9 to 14 feet tall and 10 to 14 feet wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 3 through Zone 7.

Apricot-orange buds open to fragrant cream-colored flowers in large clusters, heaviest in a single early summer flush with scattered rebloom after.

This is a genuinely large climber, so it wants a pergola, a barn wall, a substantial arbor, or a long fence run rather than a small trellis. Train the main canes as close to horizontal as the structure allows, since that is what pushes flowering laterals along the whole length.

Disease resistance is strong and it needs no spray program. Because it flowers mainly on old wood, prune after the early flush rather than in spring. Shipped on its own roots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Provide a sturdy trellis, fence, or arbor. Space 6–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly throughout the season. Train new canes onto the support structure as they develop. Deadhead spent blooms for continuous flowering. Prune in early spring to remove dead or damaged canes and to shape. Fertilize with a rose fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Good disease resistance. Above and Beyond produces vivid, fragrant flowers over a long season on a vigorous, manageable climber with outstanding disease resistance. Monitor for black spot and aphids.
