Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 4–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Prune in early spring before new growth begins to shape and remove dead wood- Rose of Sharon blooms on new wood, so pruning at this time does not reduce flowering. Deadhead spent flowers if you want to prevent self-seeding, which can be prolific. Fertilize lightly in spring. Largely pest-free. The large, exotic-looking flowers are produced in abundance over a very long season from midsummer through fall.
