Blue Girl Hybrid Tea Rose

Plant in spring or fall in fertile, well-drained soil, spacing 24–30 inches apart. Blue Girl produces unusual, mauve-lilac flowers — the closest to true blue available in roses. Dig a wide planting hole, incorporate compost, and water deeply after planting. Apply 2–3 inches of mulch. Choose a site with full sun and good air circulation to reduce disease pressure.

Prune in early spring, removing dead wood and reducing healthy canes by about one-third. Deadhead spent blooms consistently for continuous flowering. Fertilize every four to six weeks from spring through late summer. Water consistently at the base. The unusual lilac-blue color, while not true blue, is distinctive and highly sought after by rose collectors. Fragrant flowers are excellent for cutting. Moderate disease resistance.
