Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Highly adaptable to poor, sandy, and coastal soils. Space 4–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is one of the most drought-tolerant roses available. Rugosa roses require very little maintenance- prune to shape or remove dead wood in early spring. No deadheading is needed for repeat bloom. Fertilize lightly in spring. Extremely disease-resistant- essentially immune to black spot and powdery mildew. Deer resistant. The fragrant flowers are followed by large, ornamental rose hips in fall that are attractive to birds and excellent for making rose hip tea.
