Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean, dry conditions produce the best, most compact growth.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Deadhead or shear back spent spikes for continuous bloom. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The vivid, scarlet-red flower spikes are bold and produced over a very long season from midsummer through fall. The compact Kudos® habit makes this an excellent front-of-border plant and container subject. Irresistible to hummingbirds.
