Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Pinch stem tips back once or twice in late spring to encourage a more compact, well-branched plant with more flower heads in fall. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring- New England asters spread quickly and dividing regularly keeps them vigorous and tidy. Watch for aster yellows- distorted growth indicates infection; remove and discard affected plants. The vivid, hot-pink flowers are exceptionally rich in color.
