Pairs well with

Coral-pink flowers edged with a clean white border, the band running consistently around the petal margins. Rhododendron 'Roblet', sold as Encore Autumn Sunburst®, grows 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 6 through Zone 10.

The compact size, wider than tall, makes this a good foundation shrub or low hedge.

Encore azaleas can flower up to three times a year. A traditional azalea blooms for a couple of weeks in spring and then stops, while Encores set buds on new growth through the season and bloom again in summer and once more in fall. Spring and fall give the strongest shows, with the summer flush lighter and more scattered. They also take more sun than most azaleas.

Azaleas want acidic soil, roughly pH 4.5 to 6.0, with good drainage and steady moisture. Alkaline ground turns the leaves yellow. Mulch the shallow roots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the growing season. Encore azaleas bloom in spring on old wood and again in late summer and fall on new wood. Prune lightly only immediately after the spring bloom to preserve fall flower buds. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. Monitor for lace bugs on the undersides of leaves in summer. The white flowers with a yellow blotch are distinctive and cheerful, produced reliably in two seasons for extended landscape color value.
