Planting Tips

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Space 3–4 feet apart. Set the crown no more than 1–2 inches below the soil surface- planting too deep prevents blooming. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead spent flowers. Stake the large flower heads if needed. Remove all foliage in late fall. Do not transplant or divide unless absolutely necessary- Itoh peonies are long-lived and resent disturbance. Fertilize lightly in spring and after flowering. Bartzella is one of the most acclaimed peonies ever introduced- the enormous, fully double, golden-yellow flowers with red flares at the base are extraordinarily beautiful and fragrant. Largely pest-free.
