Diamantina Clematis

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Set the crown 2–3 inches below the soil surface. Provide a sturdy trellis or support. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to keep the root zone cool.

Water deeply and consistently throughout the growing season. Diamantina is a Group 2 clematis that blooms on old and new wood- prune lightly in late winter, removing only dead or weak stems to preserve the most buds. Feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring after pruning and again in midsummer. Watch for clematis wilt- if stems collapse suddenly, cut back hard to healthy tissue at soil level. The fully double, nodding, lantern-shaped flowers are exceptionally unique and refined.
