Planting Tips

Plant in spring in average, well-drained soil, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Tequila Sunrise produces warm, bicolor flowers in shades of orange and yellow that evoke the colors of a tropical sunset. It adapts to average garden conditions without special preparation. Water regularly for the first few weeks, then reduce as the plant establishes and becomes drought tolerant.

Care Tips

Deadhead consistently throughout summer to keep new flowers coming. Cut back by one-third in midsummer if plants look tired to encourage fresh growth. Divide every three years in spring. No heavy fertilizing is needed. The warm, multicolored flowers are cheerful and versatile, pairing well with both cool-toned and warm-toned companions in sunny borders, rock gardens, and mixed containers.
