Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Blanketflower thrives in lean, dry conditions- avoid rich or consistently wet soils.

Care Tips

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers consistently to maintain continuous bloom from early summer through fall. Cut back to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring to maintain vigor, as blanketflower is a relatively short-lived perennial that benefits from regular division. No fertilization needed. Largely pest-free and excellent for hot, dry borders.
