Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Space 5–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently, especially during the first season and summer dry spells. Oakleaf hydrangea blooms on old wood- prune lightly only immediately after flowering to remove spent blooms, and avoid any heavy pruning in fall or early spring which removes next year's flower buds. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. The large white flower panicles, peeling cinnamon bark, and brilliant fall foliage color make this a superb four-season native shrub. Largely pest-free.
