Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil amended with compost. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the base.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first two seasons; once established it is moderately drought tolerant. Little to no pruning is needed to maintain the naturally narrow, columnar form- this is the plant's greatest asset and should not be altered with heavy shearing. A very light trim in late spring tidies any irregular growth. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Monitor for scale and spider mites in hot, dry conditions. An outstanding, extremely narrow evergreen for tight spaces, formal accents, and containers.
