Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, acidic soil (pH 3.5–6.5). Space 4–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep. Note: Apollo is a male pollinator variety and must be planted near female winterberry varieties for berry production- it does not produce berries itself.

Care Tips

Water consistently; winterberry thrives in moist to wet conditions. Little pruning is needed- remove any dead or crossing branches in early spring. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. Plant within 50 feet of female plants such as Winter Red, Berry Heavy, or similar female varieties for effective pollination. Largely pest-free and highly attractive to birds.
