Planting Tips

Plant rhizomes with the top surface at or just above soil level in fertile, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Full sun and excellent drainage are essential.

Care Tips

Water regularly during spring growth and bloom; reduce watering after flowering. Remove spent flower stalks. Keep foliage growing through summer to fuel next year's bloom. Divide every 3–4 years in mid-to-late summer when clumps become overcrowded and blooming declines. Fertilize lightly in early spring and after flowering. Monitor for iris borer- good sanitation and correct planting depth are the best prevention. The elegantly colored flowers are produced reliably each spring on well-established clumps.
