Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in a spot sheltered from hot afternoon sun. This bigleaf hydrangea prefers moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water deeply after planting and mulch 3 inches to retain moisture. Consistent moisture is important, especially in summer.

Care Tips

This variety reblooms on both old and new wood, making it more forgiving to prune than traditional bigleaf hydrangeas. Remove only dead wood in early spring. If desired, trim lightly right after the first bloom to encourage a second flush. Fertilize in spring with a balanced fertilizer. Flower color may be influenced by soil pH — acidic soil produces blue tones, alkaline soil produces pink.
