Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, humus-rich soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture. Excellent for rain gardens and pond edges.

Care Tips

Water consistently and generously- monkeyflower is a native wetland plant that thrives with reliable moisture and tolerates wet conditions. The snapdragon-like flowers are produced over a long season. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Cut back in late fall. Divide every 2–3 years in spring. Allow some self-seeding to perpetuate the planting. Largely pest-free. The vivid, jewel-toned flowers are excellent for pollinators, especially large bumblebees that are able to enter and fertilize the closed flower.
