Planting Tips

Plant in fall (ideally) or early spring in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Shirley Temple is a classic double peony with large, soft blush-pink flowers that fade to near white as the blooms age — a beautiful, gentle color transition. Plant with eyes no more than 1–2 inches below soil level — planting too deep prevents blooming. Incorporate compost generously.

Care Tips

Stake plants to support the large, heavy flowers. Remove spent blooms. Cut foliage to the ground in fall. Do not divide unless necessary — peonies dislike disturbance.
