Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to dry soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Dark Towers is a penstemon hybrid with extraordinary, deep, chocolate-bronze foliage that provides dramatic all-season color, topped by pink flower spikes in early summer. The combination of dark foliage and pink flowers is striking. It adapts to average to lean conditions without special preparation.

Care Tips

Cut back spent flower spikes after bloom to keep the plant tidy. Dark Towers may rebloom in late summer with additional cutting back. Very drought tolerant once established. No heavy fertilizing needed — lean conditions maintain the best foliage color. Divide every three to four years in spring. The dark, chocolate-bronze foliage is among the most dramatic of any native perennial — an outstanding, easy-care plant for sunny borders.
