Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly. Good air circulation is important for mildew prevention.

Care Tips

Water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead spent flower clusters to extend bloom and prevent self-seeding of inferior seedlings. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Monitor for powdery mildew- improved resistance in this series, but good air circulation and avoiding overhead watering still help. Fertilize lightly in spring. The vivid, lipstick-red flowers are bold and long-lasting. Highly attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.
