Summer Wine® Black Ninebark

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Highly adaptable to clay, sandy, and poor soils. Space 5–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant and very adaptable. Prune out one-third of the oldest canes at the base in early spring to encourage vigorous new growth with the most vivid foliage color. Fertilize lightly in spring if desired. Largely pest- and disease-free. Summer Wine® Black has exceptionally rich, deep, nearly black-purple foliage- among the darkest of all ninebark selections. The white flower clusters in spring and attractive seed capsules in summer add further ornamental value.
