Rays For Days False Sunflower

Plant in spring, spacing 24–30 inches apart in average, well-drained soil. False sunflower is easy to grow and adapts to a range of garden soils. Water regularly for the first few weeks after planting, then reduce as the plant establishes. It handles heat and brief dry spells well once settled in. Avoid overly rich or wet soils, which can cause floppy, weak growth.

Deadhead spent blooms throughout summer to keep new flowers coming and extend the season well into fall. Cut plants back to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide clumps every three to four years in spring to prevent overcrowding and maintain vigorous blooming. An excellent cut flower — harvesting regularly actually encourages more blooms. No heavy fertilizing is needed.
