Plant in spring or fall near a sturdy support — an arbor, trellis, fence, or pergola. Dig a wide planting hole, incorporate compost, and water deeply. Apply 2–3 inches of mulch. Train canes horizontally along the support to encourage the most lateral branches and therefore the most blooms. Water consistently throughout the growing season.

Prune in early spring by removing dead wood and weak canes. Tie new, long canes horizontally to the support to maximize flowering — climbing roses bloom most abundantly on horizontal canes. Deadhead spent blooms on repeat-blooming types. Fertilize every four to six weeks from spring through late summer. America produces large, salmon-pink, very fragrant flowers.
