A landscape rose with a real tea rose fragrance is a rare thing, since disease resistance and scent usually come at each other's expense. At Last has both. Rosa 'HORCOGJIL' carries apricot-orange flowers full of petals with a sweet, true tea rose scent, on a plant 30 to 36 inches tall and wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 5 through Zone 9.
Bloom is continuous from late spring to frost rather than in flushes, and no deadheading is needed.
The flowers are fully double and open flat, with the old-fashioned form of a garden rose rather than the simpler shape most landscape roses carry. They cut well.
Disease resistance is high, so the glossy foliage holds clean through humid summers with no spray program. Give it full sun and well-drained soil, and cut back by about a third in early spring. The compact size suits a container, a front-of-border planting, or a spot beside a walk where the scent gets noticed. Shipped on its own roots.
