Clusters of red flowers open in hybrid tea form and relax to round flat blooms as they age. Rosa 'BAIsuhe', sold as Easy Elegance® Super Hero, PP20,486, grows 3 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 8.
The flowers stand out against clean medium to dark green satiny foliage, and they cut well for a small vase.
Most of the Easy Elegance roses come from the renowned breeder Ping Lim, aimed at putting hybrid tea flower quality on a plant that survives a northern winter without a spray program. They grow on their own roots rather than grafted, so a plant killed back in a hard winter comes back as itself. Pruning is a cutback in early spring and nothing more.
It performs in cooler and warmer regions alike, which is not true of every red shrub rose. The neat compact habit suits a border or a foundation planting.
