Plant in spring or fall, spacing 18–24 inches apart in average, well-drained soil. American Gold Rush is a rudbeckia hybrid with large, golden-yellow flowers on a compact, well-branched plant. It adapts to average to lean conditions without special preparation. Water regularly through the first growing season, then reduce as the plant becomes established and more drought tolerant.

Deadhead spent blooms for continuous flowering, or leave seed heads through fall and winter for birds. Divide every three to four years in early spring to maintain vigor. No heavy fertilizing needed. The large, bright golden-yellow flowers provide outstanding summer through fall color. Excellent for cutting. An important nectar source for bees and butterflies. One of the most reliable and easy-care rudbeckias for hot, sunny mixed borders.
